Open to the public on evenings and weekends, the Theatre at Trinity Arts & Leisure plays host to a variety of dramatic productions, as well as regular film screenings.

Well established and popular theatre groups such as the Bedford Marianettes and Bedford Dramatic Club have previously staged performances at Trinity Theatre.

Bedford College’s Kirsty Newman (pictured), Sam Robinson and Luke Bates are all involved in the Spring Awakening play being staged in September by the Bedford Marianettes.

The long-standing Marianettes have nurtured local talent for decades. Now they offer some modern and challenging productions ideal for young trainees from Bedford College.

“Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with poignancy and passion that is illuminating and unforgettable. The landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock & roll that is exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.” 

This show contains adult themes and is not suitable for young children. Parental caution is advised for young people over 14.

The Theatre within Trinity Arts & Leisure is a fully functioning professional setup. It has fully retractable tiered seating for up to 156 people, with a cinema sized projection screen, High Definition projector and stereo sound. Bedford Film Society have been using the Theatre since September 2006, showing 20 films per season on two evenings per week. The Theatre is also equipped with wireless internet access, as well as computer terminals in order to project onto the main screen direct from laptops.

During the day the Theatre is in constant use for Dance, Drama and extra curricular lessons, as well as for year-group assemblies and larger lecture style lessons. During the evenings and at weekends the Theatre becomes completely available for public use.

The lighting rig in the Theatre is adjustable to suit the demands of hirers for productions and plays, while the sound system is able to play sound from CD's, minidisc and microphones. At other times during the week the Theatre is used for judo classes and Birthday parties.
